Razer Sila Review: The Fastest Gaming Router

Razer Sila Review

I had no doubt that the Razer Sila will be a reliable, powerful router that is perfect for an apartment. Just like the mass of other products of this type which are cheaper by several thousand rubles. So I thought that there was such a special thing in the Razer device so that you could write about this “for the players”?

After more than a month of working with the equipment, I can answer this question: it’s about the speed of the wireless connection on consoles and PCs. Transferring data to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch is faster than ever before. Here the gadget Razer is actually the best. Sila is superior to Asus, TP-Link, and NetGear. However, with regard to network management and routing, here I see room for improvement.

Razer Sila is a nine-band tri-band router

I would like to start with two shortcomings that Razer Sila thoughtlessly copied from other top routers. Firstly, there is no SIM card slot in the device. As a result, we can forget about the alternative operation of the router in LTE-modem mode. Secondly, Sila does not have the functions of a standard modem. To connect to the network, we need a separate input device provided by the ISP. In my case, this is ConnectBox UPC, operating in gateway mode.

Wireless Range

Once again, we are talking about ideal laboratory conditions. Where radio waves are not drowned out by the networks of other users, they do not encounter obstacles, and the environment contributes to the propagation of waves. In a word: we are talking about unreal places that do not correspond to the daily conditions in which players live.

  • Only three LAN ports and I am not against alternative LTE.
